BBN is examining medical consent requirements for providers, payers and patients to design granular, role-based access control systems that manage these requirements within integrated healthcare networks, HIEs, and RHIOs. Such a system can ultimately place patients at the center of health information exchanges, allowing them to direct communication of their data within the scope of current laws, regulations and policies.
